Laura's home! (She is daughter number one - a 24 yr old Senior Aircraftswoman and gorgeous!)

So this weekend it is all stops out - dash off to do the shopping, sort the fencing out where the horses are, and then go off on a trip or something - that's the problem really I have no idea what we are going to do!

Laura came back from Basra a few months ago having spent Christmas and New Year out there, as those of you who followed my old (and sadly missed) blog will be aware. Suprisingly she loved it out there! And revelled in regular mortar raids etc. The bad news (for me anyway) is she goes back out there in October for Christmas and New Year again - which means we will have Christmas in October this year too! I don't like the idea but the alternative is Afghanistan so I suppose I have the better option.

She is not particularly enjoying her current stationing near Aldershot tho'. I gather it is a joint post with the army and she is finding Army lads a bit hard work.... not the pleasant sort of hard work either - I think my rebel daughter is becoming a snob! Apparently (and unsuprisingly) they have a 'work hard, play hard' culture where the 'play hard' bit involves a lot of fighting, and even more drinking. At 24 she has decided she doesn't want to drink to excess every time she goes out and gets a lot of stick for it. Power to your elbow Laura, stick to the shandy!

I was really nice to hear from an old friend too - well several of them actually - and funnily enough all called Ian! I generally find a lot of 'Daves' in my life but this is the first time I have had more then 6 'Ians'! Work is still plodding on - enough for me to live on so I am not complaining! And slow but surely the enquiries are coming in so I have bright hopes for the future. Next week I am looking at a Livery stables near Leamington Spa - so watch out folks, the Harding brat(s) may be heading south at last! Running my own stables has been a life long target and I finally have the opportunity to do it! You will not believe my excitement! Can't wait for next weekend.....
