Things are progressing...

Laura is going to Basra earlier than expected so it looks like we will be having Christmas in September this year! And then again in December if I can cope with two Christmas dinners!?

My search for a livery to run is turning up excellent results and so far we have three possibilities. We could finish up anywhere in the country at the moment!

Having had a bit of a lull in communication with the region I sent out a few hints that things ought to be moving on now, and got some interesting replies back - mostly from people to whom I sent nothing! And so things are moving on there too. Not perhaps precisely as I would have envisioned but not the less moving onwards...

At home the house is on the market - no bites yet but we've chosen one of the worst months when everyone is on holiday! But at least it is advertised and the board is up and we just have to sit and wait. Not something I do too well. In the meantime we are getting on with keeping the house and garden neat and tidy, getting the dogs fit with walks they have never been able to have regularly before, spending more time with the horses and slotting in the odd bit of work (on my part) here and there. Bliss!

I've started learning barefoot trimming now. I will be taking a certified course when we get settled with a livery and it will become one of the services we offer. I have found new admiration for the back muscles of farriers! Mind you - with most of them under 35 I must admit to admiring many back muscles before now! Is that really sexist or anything?? Sad maybe!!

And I've got back into baking and knitting - yes I know that's also a bit sad - but it's so therapeutic! I've set myself the task of knitting and aran armchair cover first - we need some desperately so it seemed a good idea to make them! And my cake and scones are doing a lot to keep the family very happy! Even our little hen is laying now with renewed vigor...

The only blot on the horizon was Petal the Quail dying. She was a favourite of Lizzies (youngest daughter) and she had the abdabs for at least an hour when Petal died..... Petal is now neatly buried in the back garden complete with headstone and inscription (well headboard really!)

As for democracy - what's that??? No actually it was refreshing to be invited to an NHS Foundation Trust meeting and to be able to discuss the way forward for democracy and transparency to be integrated into health service provision. I met some interesting people, some with some very strange ideas of what open consultation was - why can't we just send a questionnaire to people who attend the hospital in one particular month? That's a good spread isn't it? Erm....
